Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas or the Winter Solstice, for most of us, this time of year is all about light - both inner and outer. We celebrate by lighting candles and by decking the halls with oodles of string lights in white and multiple colors.
One of the things that I love about string lights in particular (not to mention that nowadays, they come in every shape, size, color and length), is that they look good just about anywhere. Having trouble making your hours feel festive? Not a problem. Just grab some string lights and stuff them in a jar. Line your tables, wrap your mirrors, find your biggest, baddest bowl and wrap them around some pine cones. Tape some on the wall as a holiday card holder (see below). The list is endless.
I enjoyed wrapping my last strand around our buddha from Thailand, which gave us a little chuckle, because the buddha, too, represents light.
